Rates and Policies
Session Fees

One to one session: $125 for 50 minutes.

At times, it may be appropriate to schedule a 90 minute session during the desensitization phase of EMDR. This will be charged at a rate of $180 for 90 minutes.
There is no HST charged if your therapist is a registered social worker.

Insurance Coverage

The majority of insurance plans cover counselling with a Registered Social Worker/Master of Social Work (RSW or MSW) and therefore counselling at Blue Door Counselling is covered by most benefit plans.

There are a lot of differences between insurance plans. Find out more about your coverage by trying the following:

-
check under the extended health section of your insurance company’s website for coverage for counselling/therapy with an “MSW,”.
-
call your insurance company and ask if you are covered for counselling/therapy with an MSW.
-
check under the extended health section of your benefits booklet for coverage to see an MSW.
-
ask an HR representative to check if your benefits cover you to see an MSW.

At this time, Blue Door Counselling Services does not offer direct billing. After payment, your therapist will provide you with documentation of service, that you can provide to your insurance company for reimbursement.

Payment Policy

Online payment, e-transfer, cash, debit, and credit are accepted.

Cancellation Policy

Blue Door Counselling services requires that you give at least 24 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, otherwise you will be charged for the session. This is a common practice in counselling, although many counselling agencies actually require 48 hours’ notice.

Therapists and other self-employed professionals do not receive a salary and are only paid per session, so a cancellation without enough time to fill that spot means they lose a significant portion of their income for the day. Consequently, they simply cannot afford to have this happen on a regular basis.

Sometimes, of course, life happens. If a crisis arises in your life, we will waive the fee. Outside of crisis situations, there are many options available to make sure that you’re able to make it to counselling even if something does come up. Having a backup plan for childcare, a backup plan for transportation to a session, and keeping up to date on your weekly schedule are all helpful ways to avoid having to pay for a session you didn’t attend.
