Therapy
EMDR is a psychotherapy approach that has been extensively researched and proven effective for the treatment of trauma and many other mental health problems. EMDR therapy can be used to treat a wide range of challenges.

Treatment of Anxiety
Anxiety is a natural response to stress. Some anxiety can be productive, but when you live with higher levels of anxiety it can stop you from engaging in the things you love. It can even become debilitating. Let's work together to figure out the root causes of this anxiety and develop the tools you need to conquer it.

Chronic Pain
Pain is often looked at as a physical symptom alone. However, emotional and psychological factors both contribute to and manifest from the pain. Understanding the thoughts, emotions and behaviours that play a role in chronic pain are important in the management of your pain.

Substance Misuse
Substance misuse and traumatic experiences can go hand in hand. If you want to cut back, feel more in control or stop all together, lets find the tools to do so, while also working on the reasons you seek substances to cope in the first place.
My Approach
The most crucial part of successful healing in therapy, is your relationship with your therapist. I hope to provide a safe, calming space without judgement. Here, I accept all of you, both the parts of you that are loved and the parts that are unloved. Telling anyone about your experiences is hard and often we hold back to protect ourselves and/or those around us. Sometime we can't really pinpoint why we feel stuck. Sometimes we become so skilled at shutting down our pain and insecurities that we start to see them leak out in other ways, like panic attacks and body pain. I am here to listen and help guide you towards a healthier and happier self.

There are many paths towards healing. This is your journey and therefore your care-plan will be a collaborative and unique process. Using a strength-based, person centered approach, I offer a variety of counselling therapies. These include Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), ego state work, body oriented psychotherapies, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), narrative therapy and more.

Hi! My name is Olivia Newcombe. and I am so glad you found me here! I am a social worker (RSW, MSW) and the founder of Blue Door Counselling Services. I started this therapy practice because I believe that by providing a safe place to be heard and to heal, people can get back to, or discover the person hidden underneath the pain. I am passionate about guiding you in your journey to connect with your needs and help you progress through whatever is making you feel stuck.
